The Geospatial Data Science Group (GDSG) at The University of Glasgow’s School of Geographical & Earth Sciences operates at the dynamic intersection of data science and geospatial data. Under the leadership of Professor Ana Basiri, our work focuses on understanding and leveraging geospatial data to design smarter, fairer and more inclusive location based services that support better decision making.

Our mission is to make meaningful sense of geospatial data, from traditional sources to cutting edge sensor technologies and emerging data streams such as crowdsourced and social media data. We develop innovative models to address challenges like uncertainty, bias, data gaps and privacy, enabling a deeper understanding of our cities, societies and the people within them.
